The Bugout has got you covered! All four knives have a different feel and design, along with pros and cons. Now the handle on the Bugout is made from a glass filled nylon called grivory…, I like the use of grivory for this knife design because it’s a strong material, but at the same time, it’s extremely lightweight…. In the 1938-9 Works Progress Administration interview with knifemaker William Dunbar, he shows the interviewer, “…two miniature knives the smallest not longer than three quarters of an inch long, pearl handled, faithful replicas in every detail of the large models.” The Mini Bugout is significantly bigger than 0.75”. I hope you find the information useful! The Mini Bugout Orange features textured orange handles and a satin finish blade. The Bugout is smaller than the full size Griptilian and 940, but larger than the Mini Griptilian. It also feels very ergonomic and comfortable in your hand…, And the texturing allows you to get a good purchase on the knife when you’re using it. Do they make it in ‘Blade HQ Blue’? Some of the reasons I personally prefer the Bugout over the Mini Grip include the longer blade length at 3.25” vs 2.91”, the blade shape lending itself better for slicing, the weight reduction, and the awesome short carry clip. On internet forums and in chats amongst friends, the Bugout has joined the Griptilian and Paramilitary series as perhaps the ‘Easiest to Recommend’ knife for new knife guys. The Mini Bugout is exactly how it sounds; a miniature version of the Bugout with a smaller blade and handle. Just much better imho.. Closed a bit shorter and certainly slimmer, exact same blade length (though less cutting edge) Clearly "heavier" though relatively seen, but still very light (2.1 Chap FRN, vs 1.5 Mini bugout) AND: The Chap has steel liners and steel backspacer and feels really solid in hand. I prefer the Bugout…, I prefer the Bugout for a few reasons. is the place to find information about cutlery of all kinds. I think it’s a great system for both the Bugout and the Griptilian, and it’s the type of locking mechanism I would expect to see on high end knife designs like these. Hey, my name is Dave, and I’m an avid knife collector. Earlier this year, Benchmade announced and launched both the CF-Elite Bugout and Mini Bugout. Utilitarian through and through, this knife is ready for action from the workshop to the campsite and beyond. It’s pretty small for EDC in my opinion.

I would have loved to see a slightly more premium steel here, but we’ll discuss that at greater length down the line. So if you are trying to keep the price as low as possible, you’re probably going to want to go with the Griptillian.

Can Knife Center do some more videos on close quarters combat knifes please. That’s a lot lighter than the original Gripitlian which weighs in at 3.88 ounces, but it’s actually heavier than the Bugout by around 0.65 ounces… The Bugout carries better as well (thinness and weight). When it comes to simple, function-forward design, the Bugout isn’t going to disappoint. Both the Bugout and the Mini Griptilian utilize the AXIS Lock locking mechanism. Check out the CF-Elite and Mini Bugout here. The 3.24” drop point blade perfectly complements the dimensions of the handle for a near one to one blade/handle ratio. It’s a tough steel with an outstanding wear and corrosion resistance. And compared to the Bugout, the Mini Griptilian is around 0.68 inches shorter in overall length (when both blades are deployed)… In addition to that, the Mini Griptilian weighs in at 2.5 ounces. Right now, two of their most popular utility (or everyday carry) knives are: And in this Benchmade Bugout Vs Griptilian comparison article, we’re going to put these two knives up against each other and see how they stack up in the following six categories…, In the end, I’ll reveal to you which of these two great knives I prefer, and you should have all the information you need to determine which knife is gonna be best for you…, The Bugout has become an extremely popular design for Benchmade in recent years, and to me it’s really no surprise…, Part of the reason why it’s developed such a large following is because of the high quality materials that Benchmade uses in it’s construction…, For example, the blade steel on the Bugout is CPM S30V, which is one of my favorite blade steels. Last, you can get the Bugout in a number of different handle colors such as black, tan, and blue. Tasteful design and ritzy details are also important. To be honest I think the bugout is overpriced - I wouldn’t have bought it had it not been for a gift card.

I have both. Benchmade knows how to make a great EDC knife…, They’ve been doing it for a long time, and their designs continue to be very high quality and very functional for a lot of different everyday tasks…. Personally, the Mini Bugout gets the nod over the Mini Griptilian. Huge Bugout fan. Good platform, but could use much better retention. Modern flipper or traditional folder? The Mini-Griptilian boasts all the variety of its full-size brethren, while the new Mini-Bugout shrinks the Bugout’s winning formula and shrinks it down until it fits into an Altoids tin. But even though the S30V is better, the Mini Griptilian’s 154CM steel is still pretty high quality. It’s a practical knife that will mostly do everything you need and practically disappear in your pocket when you don’t need it. It is indeed a smaller version of a larger model, but with a closed length of about 3.7” it’s not a miniature knife. The mini grip is a better fidget toy and has better steel. The Bugout makes hay as a refined, mid-sized EDC folder at an impossibly petite weight. The Bugout is extremely lightweight and slim, which makes it the easiest to carry of the bunch, in my opinion. Both the Bugout and the Griptilian are set up for tip up carry, and you can swap the clip to either side on both knives…, Personally, I prefer to carry tip down, but I don’t mind tip up carry too much when I’m carrying a knife design that I really like (and I like both the Bugout and the Griptilian)…, I do like that Benchmade gives you the flexibility of changing the clip to either side because that allows you to set up the knife for right handed or left handed carry very easily…, And like I said, the tip up carry isn’t that big of a deal for me even though I prefer tip down carry. I owned a freek and mini freek for a very brief period of time, still own two Bugouts. The CPM S30V blade steel on the Bugout is superior to the 154CM blade steel on the Mini Griptilian because it will hold an edge longer…. I can't see either being a bad choice.

I really prefer OD Green… I need a knife with a strong aftermarket mod community.

All in all, I really like the clip design on the Bugout because the knife practically disappears in your pocket.

Additionally, you can get the Bugout in a variety of handle colors such as blue, tan, and black…, And it also has a lanyard hole, so you can attach a little bit of paracord if that’s something you like to do with your knives…. The Bugout is extremely lightweight and slim, which makes it the easiest to carry of the bunch, in my opinion. And last, I prefer the flat grind on the Bugout’s blade because it makes it a great cutter.

Orange Grivory Handle with Black Hardware, Ambidextrous, Mini Deep Carry, Tip-Up Pocket Clip. It’s an extremely lightweight knife even though it’s still a medium size, and that makes it a joy to carry around as an EDC blade.

The Benchmade Mini Bugout is definitely not a miniature knife. It’s considered a premium steel because it’s strong, it does a good job of resisting corrosion, and it maintains its edge very well…, It’s also not too difficult to sharpen, and if you do wear down the edge on your knife, Benchmade offers a service called Life Sharp….

Both have great blade profiles, I can't decide. I prefer the compression lock that spyderco does on a PM2/3.
